COPE CONDEMNS HLAUDI MOTSOENENG’S ABUSE OF THE SABC

  • April 20, 2017 | Dennis Bloem

Congress of the People is very much disturbed by the way things are going at the SABC and at how Hlaudi Motsoeneng continues to hold press conferences. Motsoeneng is an ordinary worker without any position of authority at the SABC.

COPE is very much interested to know in what capacity Motsoeneng will be addressing the media on very sensitive issues relating to the administration and functioning of the Public Broadcaster.

In our view, the SABC Interim Board must ban Hlaudi from addressing the media this morning and in the future. If the Board is not going to act on this, it will create a situation of free for all at the SABC where any worker can just call a press conference including undermining the authority.

The Court has ruled on Hlaudi's position at the SABC. The dark cloud that is still hanging over his head regarding the damning Public Protector Report is concrete reason why he must be banned from addressing the media.

COPE urges the SABC Interim Board to take action against this loose cannon. The Board must not allow Hlaudi to undermine its Authority. Ends!
