COPE WILL NOT SUPPORT MOTION TO DISSOLVE PARLIAMENT

  • August 11, 2017 | President Mosiuoa Lekota

Congress of the People (COPE) will not support the "Motion to dissolve Parliament" which the Democratic Alliance intends to move.

As opposition parties working in collaboration on some of the important national issues facing the country, we have never discussed such a motion at any of our meetings.
We have raised our concerns with the DA in this regard and called for a meeting of leaders of opposition parties for proper consultation and to understand their motivation for such a motion.

COPE believes in the supremacy of the constitution and respects the democratic electoral process and its current cycle as pronounced at 2014 National and Provincial Elections.
